About us
We are Teik.it (i.e. “we”, “our”) and we operate under the name of “Teik it”. We are a non-profit association with no political aims and the aim of promoting sustainable development, a green economy, a circular economy and an inclusive economy. The association also aims to promote the environmental sustainability of the Public Administration, national and international, of public and private entities, SMEs and associations. Finally, the Association aims to promote education and instruction in matters of corporate sustainability and green economy and combating climate change. The association has its registered office in Via Alcide Pedretti 68, Rome and tax code 96600960585.
What information do we store about you?
Information you submit through our website
- To help keep Teik.it a safe place to browse and rent, we need some information to verify your account. This will be some or all of the following: name, government-issued photo ID, email address, phone number, a selfie (90% of the photo should be of your face), address, or information about your work or education.
- We may also collect information from communications made through the Platform and other information about how you use the Website.

- These are things you give us explicit permission to see. This may include your photos and camera, so you can post photos of your items, and your geolocation so we can show you the most relevant items.

- We use session, persistent and third-party cookies to track what you are doing on the site to help us improve it and provide you with a better experience in the future. Please note that cookies do not store your bank details.

How do we use your information?
To provide, analyze and improve the Teik.it service, we use your data to:
- Allow you to use the Teik.it service, communicate with other users, access customer service and receive relevant communications and notifications from us.
- Contact you by email, SMS or phone if we need to send you information related to your Teik.it account.
To keep Teik.it a safe place to browse and rent and to comply with our legal obligations, we use your data to:
- Check with immigration and fraud prevention agencies for any documentation.
- Prevent illegal activities such as money laundering, tax evasion and fraud.
- Enforce our Terms of Service and other policies and resolve any disputes with any of our Users.
To exercise our legitimate interests (which do not override your privacy rights), we use your data to:
- Market products, services or new features of teik.it, online or via SMS and email.
Who do we share information with?
We have never sold and will never sell your data to third parties. We may share your personal information with:
- Anyone who works for us, if they need it to do their job. This is always and only on a need-to-know basis.
- Your phone number will be shared with users with whom you have a rental agreement for the purposes of communicating and facilitating your rental.
Any organization that supports any of our services you use, when they need it to provide those services, including:
1) Stripe, our payment processors, who hold your rental details with us to verify your payment. This may include your name, ID, payment cards and bank accounts.
2) Google Analytics for Cookies monitoring
3) Analytics, Know Your Customer (KYC) and cybersecurity service providers
4) Anyone who gives us explicit permission to share it.
Where and when necessary, we will also share information to comply with regulatory authorities, to enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements, and to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our customers, or others.
What are your rights?
You have the right to:
- Access and update some of your information through your Teik.it account
- In some jurisdictions, you may have the right to request copies of personal information that you cannot see through your Teik.it account, although we will not be able to comply when such requests are manifestly unfounded, repetitive or excessive.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information that you cannot update yourself through your Teik.it account.
- Ask us to delete your data. If you request this, please note that:1) We may retain certain information necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud detection and prevention and improving security. For example: if we suspend a Teik.it account for fraud or security reasons, we may retain certain information to prevent that user from opening another account in the future.
2) We may retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
3) Information you have shared with others (e.g. Reviews) may continue to be publicly visible even after you delete your Teik.it account.
4) Object to the use of your data for direct marketing and in certain circumstances of “legitimate interests”, research and statistical reasons.

- Have your personal data deleted from our system. To do this, contact info@teik.it requesting the deletion of your data.
Where do we store your data?
- We care about your privacy and take the utmost care of it, which is why the information you provide us is transmitted using SSL, the secure encryption that websites use to transmit credit card numbers.
- We store your verification information in encrypted form and only authorized Teik.it team members have access to your original documentation, to help them do their job.
- Data collected within the EEA may be transferred to and stored outside the EEA for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. However, we will only do so if appropriate safeguards are in place to ensure an adequate level of data protection.
Reliability
When you rent on an eligible long-term plan with recurring payments through one of our retail partners (this excludes rentals made through our site at teik.it), we may assess your creditworthiness by providing your personal information to credit rating agencies (CRAs).
This information includes:
- Full name, billing address, shipping address and date of birth
Credit rating agencies will provide us with information about you, including public information, address data, and information about your financial history.
If you enter into a contract with us, we will also continue to exchange information with credit rating agencies, including successful payments or delays in payment of claims.
